Annie

Set in New York City in the 1930s, the musical Annie follows the life of an eleven-year-old orphan girl of the same name. Annie escapes the orphanage and her alcohol-loving guardian, Miss Hannigan, only to be brought back at the most opportune moment: when Grace Farrell, assistant to the billionaire Oliver Warbucks, is looking for an orphan to be hosted in her boss’s mansion for the holiday season.
Annie is a stage adaptation based on the popular Little Orphan Annie comic series by Harold Gray. The Broadway musical’s music, lyrics, and book were written by Charles Strouse, Martin Charnin, and Thomas Meehan, respectively. Turning out to be a very popular show, Annie ran for 6 years in Alvin Theater after its opening in 1977.
