The Story of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This amazing story begins with Joseph, a beloved and favored son, proudly displaying the magnificent multicolored coat his father gifted him. His brothers, watching that, envious of their father’s love for Joseph, conspire against him, take away his coat, fake his death, and sell him into slavery.

Joseph gets taken to Egypt, where Potiphar buys him and takes him to his home as a slave. There, Joseph proves himself to be a capable and reliable servant, but soon Potiphar’s wife falls in love with him. Joseph rejects her, so she makes up a story of assault, which gets him locked up in prison.

While in prison, Joseph’s amazing ability to interpret dreams comes to the forefront when he correctly interprets the dreams of two of Pharaoh’s imprisoned officials. Unfortunately, this is not enough to get him out of prison, so he stays there for a few more years. Then one night, a Pharaoh himself has a dream, so his official remembers Joseph and brings him to interpret it.

Joseph tells Pharaoh, based on the dream he had, that Egypt will experience seven years of abundant harvests, followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh believes him and promotes him to governor to implement a big plan of storing as much grain as possible, so when the famine comes, Egypt is ready.

This proves to be a clever plan. Once the famine hit, many people from the surrounding area came to Egypt to buy food. Among those who came were Joseph’s brothers, who betrayed him.

At first, Joseph did not want to help them, but after a few intense and emotional encounters, he realized that they also changed, so he revealed his true identity to them. In that process, he forgives them for their betrayal, and the story ends in joyous reconciliation, as his entire family comes to live in Egypt.
