It’s the best day ever when you’re getting ready for a production of SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical!
The story begins with Patchy the Pirate, SpongeBob’s number one fan. He’s come all the way from Encino, California to try and record the musical on his phone, but he’s chased off stage by security before the musical begins.
It’s another beautiful day in Bikini Bottom for SpongeBob as he makes his way to the Krusty Krab, greeting his friends as he goes. When SpongeBob arrives at work he overhears his boss, Mr. Krabs, telling his daughter Pearl that she’ll one day own the restaurant, but when she seems uninterested, SpongeBob expresses that he wants to be the manager someday.
As Mr. Krabs shuts down the idea, the ground begins to shake beneath them, rocking the entire town! A breaking news report reveals that the quake came from Mount Humongous, a warning that the volcano is ready to erupt. As the town descends into panic, Plankton and his wife Karen convince the town that they’ve created a device that will allow them to escape to safety.
While the town is on board, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy decide to team up to stop the volcano and save the town so no one has to leave their home. They plan to climb Mount Humongous and throw Sandy’s Eruptor Interrupter into the mouth of the volcano. Fearful that SpongeBob and Sandy’s plan may work, Plankton and Karen take matters into their own hands. They take his device, the Avalanche Maker, to the mountain to try and take out SpongeBob and his friends.
While Patrick stays behind with a newfound group of Super Sea Star worshippers, Sandy and SpongeBob brave Mount Humongous. Just as they near the top, Plankton deploys his Avalanche Maker, knocking SpongeBob from the mountain. At the last moment, Patrick flies in on a jet pack saving SpongeBob in time for him to drop the Eruptor Interrupter into the mouth of the volcano, saving the town!
