The stage backdrop was used for a vaudeville number as an encore after a dramatic play.  It was also used during this time to feature a show within a show, especially if it is centered on the life and times of theater actors.

Plays and musicals that carry this theme, such as Kiss Me Kate, Crazy for You, and On Your Toes, require a stage backdrop that highlights the glitz and glamour of life in the limelight.  The stage depicted on this theatrical backdrop has 2 pairs of columns, a proscenium arch bordered by gold patterns, a red stage curtain, and a wood-colored backdrop.
