Different theatres and venues have different sizes, which can be inconvenient for the production team. But don’t worry, Grosh has got you covered!

Our backdrops are foldable and thus adjustable, so no matter the size of the theatre, you will be able to make a backdrop fit perfectly.

How Do I Know Which Backdrop to Choose for My Stage?

So you are wondering how to find a perfect size for your theatre in backdrops?

Well, the first thing we recommend is talking to your theatre, and asking them what size they recommend for theatre. What you’ll find is no theatre is the same size. So it is critical they tell you what fits their theatre the best.

Once you have that information, come on back to Grosh, and we typically have, for large-size theatres 22 x 50, medium-size theatres 17 x 40, but, that may not be your theatre’s size.

Your theatre may say that they have 20 x 42. What do you do?

Well, you typically would look at 22 x 50s and we’d look at how we can fold those to accommodate the theatre size. And your theatre, I’m sure, are experts at this because every backdrop can be a different size. So they can fold it over from the top, or they can fold it over from the bottom to accommodate for the height.

For the sides, they can fold it in. As long as you are not folding too much on the sides, and taking away from the actual image, then it will work great.

If you are concerned, give us a call, and we can tell you the measurements of where the print is on the sides so that you know if you will lose too much of the perspective. Give us a call, or take a look online. We can’t wait to talk to you and help you with your next production.

How to Prepare a Venue for a Backdrop/Drape?

Once you receive the backdrop or drape you ordered, you must prepare your venue and set up the backdrop.

Ensure you have enough clean space to spread the backdrop before hanging it to smooth out any wrinkles.

The surface you spread it on should be dry, with no sharp objects or anything similar that could damage the drop. Once you spread it, attach it to the place where it will hang and leave it to hang at least 24h before the show, so the fabric can adjust.
