The Iconic Story of Wizard of Oz
The iconic story begins with an orphaned teenage girl, Dorothy, living on a small Kansas Farm with her Auntie Em. Dorothy’s dog, Toto, bites an evil old lady, Miss Gulch. Miss Gulch comes to take Toto away, Toto, escapes and returns home to Dorothy. Dorothy is afraid she will return so she and Toto run away.
They meet an itinerant phony fortune teller who knows she ran away. The fortune teller tells her Auntie Em has fallen ill from her worry over Dorothy. Dorothy and Toto immediately run home, only to find that a tornado is coming. She runs into the house and is hit by an open window and this is where the story truly begins. The witch ruled the Land of the Munchkins, little people who think at first that Dorothy is a witch herself. The Wicked Witch of the West, who is the sister of the dead witch, threatens Dorothy. But Glinda, the good witch of the North, gives Dorothy, the dead witch’s magical red slippers which protect her.

Meanwhile, Toto has escaped and runs for help. Dressed as guardsmen, the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow sneak into the castle and free Dorothy.
